Evaporation Test

The test for evaporation is simple.

  1. Fill the pool to its normal level.
  2. Place a bucket of water, filled to within 2cm from the top, on the step of your pool; sitting in the pool water so it becomes the same temperature.
  3. Mark the water level within the bucket and the pool water level on the outside of the bucket.
  4. Leave the bucket for a maximum of 2 days
  5. Measure the difference in water levels inside and outside of the bucket compared to the marks that you made in Step 3.
  6. The measurement from the mark inside the bucket to the current water level in the bucket indicates the amount of evaporation. If the measurement outside of the bucket to the current water level of the pool is greater than the measurement for evaporation, then the pool is possibly leaking.
